GÖRLITZ - Modem-Info-Tag 2012 dominated by BSI protection profile

„Smart Metering – safe and secure!“ True to this motto, exhibitors from international smart metering companies met their customers from 16 - 17 October. GÖRLITZ AG, located in Koblenz, conducted the programme and provided information to visitors to the stand and in lectures about actual developments.

This year the Modem-Info-Tag was organised by Zentralverband der Elektroindustrie e.V. (ZVEI) and the affiliated ZVEI-Services GmbH (ZSG). In her opening speech, Anke Hüneburg, manager of the energy department and executive director of the Fachverband Energietechnik gave the go-ahead for the two-day event. A great number of issues and constructive discussions accompanied the qualified lectures and the exhibition of innovative products and solutions also generated a great deal of interest amongst the 250 participants. Robert Rohde, (GÖRLITZ AG) and Jörg Schmidtke (Dr. Neuhaus Telekommunikation GmbH) presided jointly over the programme.

In line with the motto, "Smart Metering – safe and secure!", most of the 17 lectures dealt with the subject security. The lecture by Dennis Laupichler, Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), explaining the requirements which arise from the protection profile and the technical guidelines was widely applauded by the participants. This topic has currently an essential impact on the future planning for providers and customers involved. The GÖRLITZ point of view on the actual situation was set out in Dieter Novotny's presentation "End-to-End Security - Embedding a gateway in the system landscape". This clearly demonstrated to the audience the impact of the gateway on existent infrastructures and processes and highlighted feasible solutions.

After imparting valuable information on the innovative developments, products and solutions in the smart metering environment, GÖRLITZ was endorsed in the conviction to pursue the direction taken and enhance developments.
