MECOMS™ Smart Home is a new Customer Interaction Channel. It allows consumers to interact with their utility company, through their digital television.
MECOMS™ Smart Home offers a rich user interface. In addition to their TV remote, users can control the interface through gestures, using a Kinect sensor, which comes with Microsoft Xbox game consoles. The application connects to the MECOMS™ back-end using a two-way messaging system. It can be used simultaneously for electricity, gas, water or any other commodity.
MECOMS™ Smart Home offers its users meaningful insights about energy consumption and their ecological footprint. The application can present consumption as tons of CO2 or calculate the ROI of replacing an aging household appliance with a more efficient model.
When combined with smart meters, the available data becomes nearly real-time. Energy consumption and local production can then be analysed in highly detailed charts.
