Eltel starts to execute National Grid projects in UK in JV with Carillion
Eltel expands to UK – National Grid has awarded a framework agreement with potential value of £500m for the delivery of part of their 400 kV electricity transmission network upgrade programme. A joint venture formed between Eltel Networks and Carillion has signed an agreement with National Grid for the delivery of National Grid 400kV Overhead Upgrade Programme.
Eltel Networks and its UK based joint venture partner Carillion has signed and commenced work under an agreement covering delivery of National Grid’s electricity transmission network upgrade across the UK. Carillion – Eltel Networks will work in alliance with National Grid under a framework agreement to deliver part of National Grid’s investment programme, including the refurbishment and upgrade of its overhead power lines and towers. The Carillion−Eltel JV Alliance agreement has a potential value of £500m and a duration of up to 5 years.

Graham Carr, Managing Director of Carillion Utility Services, added: "The potential of this agreement is hugely significant for us. Work on the upgrade will be delivered in stages between now and 2017, so to be involved in the framework from the start is extremely important. Their background and competence in designing and constructing transmission networks complements Carillion’s experience and proven systems in project delivery."
National Grid’s investment programme includes refurbishment, upgrades and new build of its 400 kV transmission network throughout England and Wales.
The contract began on 1st April.
