Amsterdan Smart City  update

A number of the activities of Amsterdam Smart City will be centred upon three city areas, wherein various innovations will be combined. In these areas ASC is particularly focused on involving the generation of energy, with special attention paid to Heating/Cooling solutions. Throughout all activities, Amsterdam citizens remain key. As such, the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area will form an Urban Living Lab that provides businesses the opportunity to create innovative products that can be demonstrated in the following areas:
  • Nieuw West: Liander has achieved the first large-scale Smart Grid in a built environment. Amsterdam Smart City invites the energy industry and other relevant parties to test their sustainable innovations here.
  • IJburg: KPN has rolled out a cutting-edge fibre optic network, making it possible to create innovative new products in the fields of connectivity and sustainability.
  • Zuidoost: In the area between the ArenA and the AMD, various initiatives have been bundled to achieve an integral energy transition.
At this moment Amsterdam Smart City is busy with the analysis of energy use, generation potential, investment portfolios, and the requirements of the residents and users in each areas. Besides these focus areas, ASC will continue to operate as a platform for smart innovation in the city. Bringing parties together, sharing knowledge and economic development remain key.
