Eltel signs a USD 19 million contract for construction and rehabilitation of distribution networks in Tanzania

Eltel Networks TE AB has signed a USD 19 million turnkey contract to improve the power networks and connecting 9.000 customers in Mwanza and Shinyanga regions in Tanzania.
 
Eltel Networks TE AB has won a major contract in an international competitive bidding for a project financed by the African Development Fund.
 
The works to be carried out will include design, supply, erection, civil works, test and commissioning of a complete functioning permanent network for TANESCO, Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited in 2 regions, Mwanza and Shinyanga.
 
The project is about supply of power in the two regions, consisting of new construction of approximately 500 km, 33 kV OH line, erection of 33/0.4 kV distribution substations, construction of more than 200 km, 0.4 kV OH-line, street lighting and the connection of close to 8.000 customers.
This contract is the second one won by Eltel in a short time. Only a month ago the company announced a EUR 23 million contract to build a major infrastructure to improve power supply in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
