In June Eltel’s Power Transmission won 2 important contracts; one EUR 37 million contract in Norway,  and one contract in Sweden, value 19 million

The first contract is with the Norwegian grid operator Statnett SF. The contract is about a new 46 km 420 kV line in the Southeastern part of Norway. Contract value is EUR 37 million.

This new overhead line will be built between Bamble and Röd. Scope of project is materials and all works to build a transmission line including foundations, ground work, installation of steel structures, installation of isolators and cable pulling. Dismantling of part of the current line is also included. In general all works will be conducted with helicopters to enter the sites and protect nature.

”After an intensive tendering phase and negotiations during the spring we are extremely happy to have won this contract and place Eltel back on the Norwegian transmission map. This project means that we can establish an organisation with ambitions to be Statnett’s leading partner in building transmission lines in Norway”, says Fredrik Menander, President Power Transmission at Eltel.

“An important success factor to prepare in a very short time slot a qualitative and competitive tender was our international network of various Eltel units in Sweden, Finland, and Poland. These together and in combination with our competences in Eltel’s Norwegian company about the local regulations have proved competitive. Few other companies, if any, can show the same performance”, says Mats Björkman, Director, Eltel Power Transmission Sweden & Norway.

”Eltel won the contract based on a total evaluation consisting of commercial factors, but also reflecting how we meet other requirements like project planning and control, methodology for quality assurance, environment, health and safety, and working methods. This contract is a statement of our Transmission unit’s way of working in project management and control, which is really great”, concludes Mats Björkman.

The project execution is started in June and its planned schedule extends till winter 2014−2015. Eltel’s Transmission units from Sweden, Finland and Poland will be also participating in the execution.

The second contract Eltel Networks has won in international competition is a part of the construction in Svenska Kraftnät’s SouthWest link project. Value of contract is EUR 19 million.

The objective is to improve the reliability of the grid in the Southern part of Sweden. The connection is also aimed to prepare for the large scale expansion of wind power, part of the Swedish and European climate policy. Another goal is to limit the differences in electricity prices between regions.

The new overhead line is 400 kV and Eltel’s project will take place between Tranås and Barkeryd. The project consists of materials and all works including foundations, ground work, installation of steel structures, installation of insulators, and cable pulling. Dismantling of the current 220 kV line is also part of the project.

”We are very happy to win this contract and gain the trust of Svenska Kraftnät to construct the backbone grid of Sweden's electricity supply. The volume and schedule of the project provides us with a stable platform for today and future growth”, says Mats Björkman, Director of Business Unit Transmission Sweden.
